Katherine Heigl shares her experiences in a 'white bubble' affected the way she raised her adoptive multiracial family. After meeting her Korean-American adopted older sister, she realised the distinction between how others treated her and her. Meg was asked whether her treatment was different while they were together with their parents, and in the case of going out on their own. She replied, "Oh yeah, always!" Heigl said to Parents, "That made me realise that I had been so ignorant." According to the actor, she became angered. But, she was determined to channel her anger into helping the girls she adopted. Heigl has a son who is four year with Josh Kelley, her husband for the past 13 years. The couple took in Nancy Leigh (age 12) from South Korea and Adalaide (age 8) with a black complexion in 2009.
