Laura Linney's portrayal as vulnerable but strong characters has helped make her one of today's greatest American actors. After spending the summers in her father's company, Laura Linney became fascinated with the theatre. Then she attended Brown University she studied acting and also at Juilliard School, after which she began her acting career. Beginning her career at the Broadway shortly after her graduation, she made her debut in films within two years and on television following a year. Since then, she has performed in many films and TV and stage productions. She has been awarded numerous prizes during her professional career. These include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Yet, despite all the awards she has received, theatre has remained her primary passion and she has continued to appear both in stage and screen.
