Thunberg made a decisive move in August of 2018. She calmly sat outside the Swedish parliament, boycotted class and sat on a banner that said "School Strike For Climate". It was her method of drawing attention of politicians to act to combat global warming. Swedish media reported Thunbergs decision and her actions spread. In the following days, a plethora of students around the globe joined her #FridaysforFuture strikes skipping school on Fridays in protest of climate changes. In 2019 climate campaigners around the world joined together for the inaugural Global Strike for Climate. It was a huge success; over 1.6million individuals from 125 countries joined.
