Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 the 28th of October, 1967. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer was one of the first Roberts to move to Atlanta. Her father had the first interest to the stage. He acted on at the Emory University campus in 1952 and in other productions in Atlanta. He joined the military in 1953. While being stationed at Biloxi Mississippi, he was a part of a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was also in Air Force. Both married in 2005 and had their first child, Eric Anthony in 1956. In 1957, the couple quit the military and Walter was enrolled at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. In 1960, the family relocated into Decatur Georgia where Walter began working at Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter along with Betty Lou began producing a children's television program in the city of Decatur, Georgia titled Bum Bum and His Buddies. The production was funded by the couple themselves. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou founded their own organization called the Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted about six years. They welcomed in 1965 two new children: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
