Cheney is a prominent figure in Washington politics has worked under four presidents from the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush selected Cheney on July 20, 2000 as his vice-presidential running mate being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff for a president. He also served as a Member of Congress as well as secretary of defence. Republicans and Democrats all respect his honesty. Cheney claims that the position he will play in the Obama administration as of an open and honest adviser to Bush. Cheney expressed excitement about being nominated for the Republican vice-presidential nominee. He said that he is looking forward working alongside a president who will collaborate with those who have different political views and with common goal.
